Sacramental Programme 2020

Good afternoon Parents and Carers,

please see the notice below from Father Broadley regarding the Sacramental Programme, 2020:

Sacramental Programme 2020

If any parent would like to enrol their child on the Sacramental Programme, i.e. for children who are in Year 3 or above, the date, time and place for enrolment is:

St Veronica’s Parish Hall, Saturday 11th January at 11.00 am.

When parents choose to have their child baptised they take on the responsibility of ‘training them in the practice of the Faith’ and to ‘bring them up to love God and their neighbour’ (Rite of Baptism for Children). The Sacramental Programme is there to help parents fulfil this undertaking, it cannot replace the parents’ involvement nor even less can it deprive them of their natural right and duty to be ‘the first teachers of their child in the ways of faith’ (Rite of Baptism for Children). The first and most important part played by parents in their duty as Christian parents is to bring their children to Mass and so introduce them to the family of the Church, which is what a local parish is. Please give this careful thought before you decide to enrol your child on the programme. If, after some thought, you consider that your own faith is not ready to fulfil these obligations you may postpone the enrolment of your child until you are ready to assume the responsibilities; First Holy Communion does not necessarily have to be in Year 3. If any parent/guardian would like some help on this matter then please feel free to speak to Fr John.
