The Governance Statement
In accordance with the Government's requirements for all governing bodies, the three core strategic functions of the St Veronica’s R.C. Primary School Governing Body are:
1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction and ensure all statutory duties are met;
2. Holding the Headteacher to account of the educational performance of the school and its pupils and the performance management of staff;
3. Overseeing the financial performance of the school and ensuring its money is well spent.
The Governing Body have two working committees:
1. Resources Committee
~ To monitor the finances of the school, oversee the financial performance of the school and ensure any money is spent effectively.
~ Oversee the maintenance and development of school premises.
~ Ensure that there are robust health and safety procedures and practices.
2. Standards and Effectiveness Committee:
~ Monitor and review teaching and learning, school data and statistics in order to identify strengths and areas for development.
~ Ensure that high quality and skilled staff challenge children to achieve their full potential.
The Governing Body of St Veronica’s RC Primary School Primary School is made up of:
1 Staff Governor
1 Headteacher Governor
2 Elected Parent Governors
1 Local Authority Governor
7 Foundation governors
Each governor has a specific role within the work of the school. The Governing Body works as a team and acts with integrity, objectivity and honesty, in the best interests of the children in our school. The Headteacher and the Senior Leadership Team run the school on a day to day basis, but the governors provide support, assistance and challenge, acting as a “critical friend” to ensure that the school continues to maintain and improve high standards in everything it does
As a Catholic school, the governors have an overriding responsibility to remain focused on the mission of the school to provide the best possible Catholic education for every pupil.
MEETINGS
The Full Governing Body meets three times in the year. The following governors have the roles of:
