St Veronica'sRC Primary School

Not just a school; a family.

Bridging the generation gap and working with the local community

Our Year 5 Chaplains had the privilege of visiting Turfcote Nursing Home, Helmshore.  They had a wonderful time talking to the residents about their families, hobbies and what their likes and dislikes were about being at school.

During our visit the residents helped our children to decorate some pebbles which will be placed in our prayer garden.

The children benefit by gaining knowledge from the older generation and learning about different people who make up the community. I can certainly say that our new elderly friends got as much out of the gathering as did we, if not more.

We have another visit planned next week which the children are extremely excited about.
